Things about VTM which you appreciate as a historian
- HJ: With the VTM apparently focusing on preserving historical documents, artifacts, buildings etc. there can be a big benefit of saving a large number of sources which wouldn't be considered before they might be lost/destroyed.
- I appreciate the access to a variety of historical data the project promises.
- I appreciate the fact that it seems to be a collaboration of very different fields of work.
- it seems like it digitalizes sources - but i'm a bit confused overall.
Things about VTM which worry you as a historian
- In the video someone says that the researchers have to make "sense" of the data. To me this process is very unclear and potentially dangerous if not made transparent.
- that archives and the "analog world" lose meaning.
- I don't really see who funds the project? EPFL?
